Three whodunits: part 2 of 3

here's mystery #2:

A man walks into his bathroom and shoots himself right between the eyes using a real gun with real bullets. He walks out alive, with no blood anywhere, and no, he didn't miss, and he isn't Superman or any other hero. How did he do this?

I can't think right now, but I know this type of riddle, but for now I'll say...

he did have a real gun and real bullets but they weren't in the gun

or

it was a real fake gun, and real fake bullets

or he had and extreamly small bullet proof vest
